Oft when I make a photo, I don’t think much of it. Over the years, I have learnt never to delete ANY photo that I have made at ANY point in time. I don’t. If I had, I would have lost out on one of my favourite photos of all time:
People in Amsterdam are chilled out. Tourists even. In spite of all the drinking and marijuana at every street corner 24×7, I did not come upon any unruly behaviour in the three months that I spent there.
A lot of Amsterdam’s residents own boats of different shapes and sizes. And throughout the day, boats make their way through the narrow canals and along the Amstel River. Friends and family pack beer etc. and enjoy their time together negotiating the labyrinth.
I feel refreshed every time I look at the texture of the disturbed waters, tonality, colour balance and the relaxed body language of the four men. I fondly remember that evening.

It looks rather cold though…..
I like days like this. It wasn’t exactly warm and sunny. Just perfect.
Thanks, nursemyra!
I can’t even begin to imagine your photo library, then!! Mine is bad enough and I do delete.

Thanks, Jillsy Girl!
There is a sailor in my soul that delights in boats and being on or near the water so I really enjoyed this photo immensely.
I love the waters too.
Thanks, Kay Dennison!
Your blog is informative and always worth seeing and worth reading.
Thanks, Rolf!
Come back again soon.
I don’t see them drinking…what kind of boat party is that?
It’s Amsterdam!
I love that photo – it speaks “weekend” right at me. I’m sure they were having a relaxing good time.
This was on a weekday! Welcome to Amsterdam!
Thanks, Tammy!
Ha! To an Indian all this seems like a dream–A boat with four old school friends and a pack of some good quality beer (not kingfisher), blue sky above and the reflection of it on the waters below. Lush green trees overlooking the narrow water path.
